The much awaited sensational basketball competition in the city will reel off on March 24 at the Bohol Wisdom School gym. Dubbed as the John Geesnell Baba Yap Basketball Challenge,the topurnament is now on its third season of giving entertainment to the barangay folks with the thrill and excitement of the game, Similarly it has got the continuous support of the populace as this is the only one which has a genuine objective of developing the youth through sports particularly basketball.
This year the age requirement of the tournament has been raised to 23 in order to accommodate the enthusiastic players of these ages, but one must be at least 18 years old on the day of the opening before he can play in the tournament.
The basketball challenge requires the players to submit original birth certificate with pictures attach to it; voters' id as the tournament only qualifies those who have registered with the Comelec on February 21, 2012. Furthermore, the 3rd John Geesnell Baba Yap inter - Barangay Basketball Challenge does not allow current high school and collegiate varsity players; Even those who were former collegiate varsity players are likewise banned from this basketball competition.
The undertaking has been made the training ground for the youth to make them
good citizens of the country and to get them rid of the perils of the drug menace and thus some of the rules on discipline have been imposed properly and fairly to all players such as the compulsory attendance to the opening parade of the participating teams. A player who does not attend the parade shall not be allowed to play on the first game of his team. And a team which does not attend shall be forfeited on their.
