A town councilor and scion of the prominent Uy family of Baclayon died last October 21 or 18 months in comatose after he was waylaid by armed men in a desolate area in the Corella-Sikatuna highway January 2011. The violent incident also resulted in the death of his sister. The high-profile robbery-slay claimed the life of Conchita Uy, 67 of Poblacion, Baclayon town while his elder brother Angelito,68, died last week after lying in coma as a result of the gunshot wound in the face. It was a harrowing ordeal for the elder Uy after he was discharged from a Cebu hospital following the gunshot wound that rendered him unconscious until his death last week.
The Uy siblings were on their way to Sikatuna on a Thursday, the town’s market day, when sidled up at gunpoint by two armed men in the unpopulated part of the Corella-Sikatuna highway. Motive of the killing was robbery. The Uys who were in the copra buying business were already victims of at least three robberies but the latest proved to be fatal as it claimed the life of Conchita and lately her brother. To this day, the daring robbery remains unsolved as the driver and helper of the cargo truck where Conchita was on board reportedly suffered mental breakdown when subjected to police investigation if they ever knew anything about the suspects.
The elder Uy was a town councilor of Baclayon when shot in the daylight robbery. He was in another vehicle, a multicab, when fired at by the same suspects. Incapacitated for 18 months, he was replaced as member of the Baclayon Sangguniang Bayan by his wife Josefina. This Uy was the eldest of brothers Felix, a lawyer, and Benecio, an accountant, who both became mayors of Baclayon. Angelito Uy was buried last Thursday at the Baclayon Catholic Cemetery.

May the soul Mr. Angelito Uy rest in peace. May the soul of Ms. Conchita Uy also rest in peace. May the light of God shine upon them and bring them rest. We ask this and pray through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Hi Mary,
Yes, you're right. If there is no justice for these two innocent victims in this world, then those who thought they got away now will have to answer to the righteous Judge, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the life to come.
May God's Will be done...
