1. terrorism, crime and the general anarchy that it represents raises the cost of production beyond a profitable level, driving industry to other more stable and secure locations. No industry, no employment, no incomes, resulting poverty.
2. Poor infastructure, roads, bridges, utilities, etc raises the cost of industry, making other locations more profitable.
3. The philippines has natural resources, such as islands, beaches, reefs, traditional cultures and cuisine that makes international tourism a natural fit. Tourism is one of the most profitable, environmentally friendly, and employment rich industries that greatly enhances the social welfare of the communities in which it is located. Terrorism, crime, and the general zenophobia and malignant forms of marxist nationalism targeting foriegners drives out tourism, and the economic benefits that could come from this.
solutions: develop public awareness of the economic benefits of having a stable, secure, and trustworthy government, free from the anarchy of terrorism, rebellion and organized crime. Promote tourism as a key target industry for many areas within the philippines, and invest in infastructure to promote tourism, manufacturing, and other industry.
