That procedure is called exploratory proctoscopy. The one performing the proctoscopy is a Proctologist, a Medical Doctor who specializes in treating disorders of the lower digestive tract, the anus, rectum.

It looks like he is inspecting external hemorrhoids. If it is external hemorroids, then the Medical Doctor will perform a surgical procedure to remove the hemorroids called hemorrhoidectomy.

Prior to inserting the proctoscope, isles, we usually do an external exploratory proctoscopy, then, we will insert the proctoscope. External examination will allow us to identify external hemorrhoids first, and the insertion of the proctoscope will allow the physician to identify internal hemorrhoids, which is usually the source of anal bleeding.

In regards to external hemorrhoids, we usually remove them vis-a-vis hemorrhoidectomy. For internal hemorrhoids, depending on the severity, one can treat it via hemorrhoidectomy or hemorrhoidoplasty.

hahaha! i'm still trying to figure out what that means. is that a weighing scale with a weird design? is that a foot wash? or the guy's flying carpet? for the life of me, i'll never get it.

off topic : i never knew why some people would specialize in proctology. i don't care if they are very well paid, but no amount of money could force me to look at a$$es all day long. a$$es with diseases and pathologies that could scare a man even in his sleep.

addendum: i remember one time i did my gynecology rotation. the first patient i had was a woman with vagina yeast infection. it was like cauliflower growing out of her vagina. and the crustations were continuously falling off. the attending M.D told me and my partner, "okay, go ahead and inspect the patient's yeast infection."

i smiled and proceeded to inspect, but in my mind i was saying, "jawaaa pod ni uy. ngano ako man pod."
