Yes.

That and the Chipmunk, lol
At first I thought it was going to be another korny chic-flick, but it turned out to be pretty funny. Brought out the kid in me :)

Enjoyed watching "Last Holiday" on HBO-Asia recently, can't remember what day of the week I saw it though.  It starred Queen Latifah and LL Cool J.

Hi folks...Mackey asked me to put this here so since Lorenzo mentioned it in this topic according to the search engine, here is a link to the trailer to "Prince Caspian", the next movie in the Narnia series due out on May 16th.

The girl playing Lucy, Georgie Henley, also plays the young Jane Eyre in the latest BBC production, where I must admit to being infatuated with Ruth Wilson. This is a great show which should not be missed playing on you local BBC or PBS channel. The DVD will be released here in the US on Jan 18th if you miss it or one of the episodes on TV...joey

I like the Japanese legendary filmmaker, Akira Kurosawa. I got all his films but haven't watched them all. hehehe! They have been sitting on my shelf for years. But I love "Rashomon."

I like the Chinese, Wong Kar Wai, too! (wait, hala! Taiwanese ba to siya?) His "Chungking Express" was nice!

My all time favorite is "The Sound of Music." Well, I guess everybody loves Roger and Hammerstein's tunes. Just can't help but sing with the kids. No?

 ;D

What else?

There's this Korean film, "Takegushi." Aguy! Sakto ba ni? It's about the South and North Korean War in the 50's. It's a brilliant film. Good technicals, good script, good acting, good music, good good everything. Not to mention handsome actors! yeaaaaaaaaah!

Watch the PINOY INDIE FILMS, grabe! Pinoys are very talented. There's "Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros" and "Sarungbanggi." I heard "Kubrador" made waves in the international scene. I saw a copy at the local video stores. Might get one soon!

Check them out!

my favorite movie... Life is Beautiful...

tells of a Jewish family that was torn apart by the Nazis... the son and the father was put in one camp and the mother in another. it is very sad because the father knows that in the end they would all die...the father never told his son about this but instead told him that what they are into is some kind of a game that they should play and in the end, there is a prize waiting. won't spoil this for those who haven't watched it... you better watch it because it is very beautiful.

B:)...Prior to the days of VCRs and DVDs, when it took years before they came on TV, and when they were just about the only cheap form of entertainment for teens, there were at least 4 memorable movies I saw at least 3 or more times in the theaters: West Side Story(61), The Sound of Music(65), Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliette(68) and 2001 Space Odyssey(68). Notable for me with The Sound of Music was that the 1st time I saw it was in a theater in Tagbilaran in 66 during my 10 month stay there...joey

That will be a great movie! I was a big fan of the Witch, Lion and the Wardrobe cartoon movie back in the 80s/early 90s. When Narnia came out couple of years ago, it was as if my childhood memories came back again. I loved the book, the movie, for the most part, stayed in line with the theme of the book.

Did you watch Bridge to Terabithia? Its another great book. The life morals in these movies are great, bar none.

Lorenzo...I wud hope that the whole series by CS Lewis will be as great like Harry Potter was. The Dawn Trader and Silver Chair are already in preproduction by Disney. I have read the Chronicles of Narnia several times since I was a little kid. I liked Lewis's Space Trilogy, often referred to as the Perelandra series, even better.

However may favorite book series was Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series which have threatened several times to become movies but never have. Since her death in 99, several sci fi/fantasy authors have continued to write about Darkover.

I've not seen the current Bridge to Terabithia, the previous PBS production or read the book by Katherine Paterson yet. Surprised you like this as the religious censors are trying to have this book banned from the libraries if not burned. Guess the current movie is not as death themed oriented...joey

I've never engaged in Bradley's Darkover, however, I'll try to look for it.

I'm glad to know that we have similar tastes in genre, sir.

Great minds think alike. :)

Regards, Sir.

sgt.joey, when I saw these movies on DVD, I fell inlove with it. I laughed and cried with it like any other favorite movies I saw. And oh I just remember, "Dr. Schevago", "Lawrence Of Arabia", "Legends Of The Fall", "Breakfast At Tiffany's" again they're some of my favorites. Even though some of them were black and white, I still enjoyed them a lot that i can watch them over and over again.

This is the movie I watched over and over the most in a theater: The Long Kiss Goodnight.

I know, I know...it's not intellectually engaging or emotionally intimate enough to make it to any one's list of great movies.  BUT IT WAS DAMN GREAT FUN WATCHING IT!!! ;D

It's hard to wait for something you know might not happen, but it's harder to give up when you know it's everything you wanted.

here's one of those movies I've watched, and the aftertaste have lingered this far.

ALFIE (2004)

Alfie Elkins is a philosophical womanizer who is forced to question his seemingly carefree existence. Ultimately, his freewheeling lifestlye begins to slowly unravel.

Under the direction of Charles Shyer, Alfie follows a charming, if morally lacking, womanizer from one bed to the next. While his actions arise more from nonchalance than malice, Alfie nonetheless faces a moral dilemma when considering the two women he has impregnated: his common-law wife, whom he hasn't treated very well even outside of his tendency to stray, and one of his mistresses. Alfie also includes performances from Marisa Tomei, Susan Sarandon, and Nia Long. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

I grew up in this town, my poetry was born between the hill and the river, it took its voice from the rain, and like the timber, it steeped itself in the forests.--Pablo Neruda
