He he, testing lang ni ha?

my all-time favorite go-to phrase during bad times especially:  forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit. - perhaps someday these things will bring their joy in remembrance. (virgil, the aeneid)

posted inside our car:  frena pro feris teneo. - i brake for animals.

my favorite latin mystery:

question:  quid est veritas? - what is the truth?
answer:  est vir qui adest. - it is the man who stands before you.

in essence, though not literally, this is the exchange of pilate and jesus christ.  a closer look at the letters of both the answer and question would give us 14 letters each, with exactly the same letters.  the answer is already in the question in other words, my eldest brother who taught me this said.  (the very same brother, now gone, who gave me my most precious violin.) :'(

My favorite:

Deo Optimo Maximo    <For God, the best and greatest..>

This happens to be the motto of the Benedictines. This is my life motto, in all that I do, I give my plans to Him. So whatever may happen, happens because it is His Will...

The meaning in this latin verse , for me that is, is that whatever we may do we should offer the glory and the plan to God. Our expenditure of energy in work, studies, faith, and communion with man should be performed to the best of our ability. For the Glory, and Honor of God.
We expect the best, therefore, we should also give the best. In His Name..

:)

Absoluta sententia expositors non indiget

When language of law is clear, no explanation of it is required.

Actus me inuito factus non est meus actus

An act done by me against my will is not my act.

Actus non facit reum, nisi mens sit rea

The act itself does not make a man guilty unless his intention were so.

Cessante ratione legis, cessat et ipsa lex

When the reason of the law ceases, the law itself ceases.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. - John 3:16-18

This remains one of the 5 personal mottos that has influenced my life. This song, which is sung in Church Latin, is absolute in its message.

Ubi Caritas Deus ibi est

"Ubi Caritas Et Amor, Deus Ibi Est."

Ubi caritas et amor,
ubi caritas Deus ibi est.

Congregavit nos in unum Christi amor,
ubi caritas et amor Deus ibi est.
Exultemus et in ipso jucundemur,
ubi caritas et amor Deus ibi est.

Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero,
ubi caritas et amor Deus ibi est.
Et in medio nostri sit Christus Deus,
ubi caritas et amor Deus ibi est.

The central theme of this song, Ubi Caritas et Amor, Deus Ibi Est, is: Where There is Charity and Love, God Is There.

It is as beautiful as the sound of Church Bells on Sunday Morning.
