Author Topic: Any advice on how to deal when you're nervous or scared? (Read 5783 times)

This thread started me thinking of posting because my husband and I are in a band that started 2 weeks ago and so far we only had 2 practices and we will be performing at Hard Rock Cafe - Downtown, Sacramento on May 4th. Aguy kaduol na.

I am a karaoke junky and this will be my first time singing with a band and I am the lead vocalist singing rock songs - I mean REALLY ROCK! (Ambisyosa)

I am not nervous right now but I'm sure I will be when performing with a huge crowd. My armpit and palms will be sweating for sure.

So any advice please? Of course manguros ug mag pray jud ko kay akong dignidad ang nakasalalay ani.

Just take it day by day. If something arises then just deal with it. That is the best advice I can give you. Good luck in your endeavors.

Just believe in yourself and enjoy to the fullest what you are doing. You got the singing talent that you should be proud of, as we are, and share this talent to the world but first the crowd of Hard Rock Cafe!

kay kanang nervousness usahay gud lack raman ug oxygen imong brain ana kay there are times dili magka dimao imong breathing, without you knowing it.

So inig hapit na gani, talikod ajaw paatik, deep breath jud ha?

bagaa ang make up kay hayag raba kaayo atubangan sa limelight!

Ytesski ang ahung ika advice relang lang be yourself. Think positive all the time that you can do it.
Just have fun and be proud of yourself that you are able to perform in such a famous place.

Kahibalo ko unsay feeling anang makulbaan sa daghan nga crowd. Kay 7 years ago nakadawat kog award infront of more than 500 people. I was the only nominee from Fairbanks and only Pilipina in the intire crowd as in mura jod Grammy award.
Unya wala akung bana mo comfort nako kay bag-o sya na operahan dile pwede mo travel og airplane so ako lang Boss og asawa sa tag iya sa among companya. Pagtong tong naho sa stage daghan kaayo namakpak wala koy madungog nagbasa na akung kamot sa ka owaw pero ako lang gihangad kay nakalimot ko og unsay akung e estorya abi ko magbisaya ko.
Kalooy jod naka luwas jod ko. I am so proud of myself after all.

Na ma gamit ang pagka comedy style basta mag bisaya na. Mura ba og mo attend og Jury duty og mag pili na para sa Jury pa estorya-on man jod tagsa tagsa sa atubangan sa Judge og sa mga Lawyers. Basta mag panic na mawala ang english sos ni ingon dayun akung katupad sa iya nang turno, sorry for all me no speak english! Ni ingon ang Judge ok you are dismiss.
Pag gawas sa baje pina smile pag daku unya slang pa kaayo og ingon nga "Thank you Judge and thank you guys,you all have a wonderful day ba bye" Na shocked lagi me tanan.

Wow Ms Bella ka sikat nimo ato Toyota man jod. Gipahibawo naka ato daan? Ang ako kay wala jod 1 hour before shooting ra unya aho ka ugalingon nga line akung e estorya walay make up dagway naho murag refuge. Sorry, I wasn't able to reply all TB friends' post ani nga thread. I fell asleep in the couch the other night and yesterday of course busy - PRACTICING.

Anyway, ana man jud daw na Gem magkajongit. Bisan gani mga celebrities mabag-o or ma veterano na sila hehehe magka tongue twister jud. Naa koy nakit-an nga show nga gi-feature ng mga celebrities, newscasters, reporters na nagkajongit ug kapila ka take pod unya mangatawa nalang sila.

Maayo lagi unta Gem kung naay moingon nga strangers nako later on na moingon "Oy, I saw you at Hard Rock Cafe and you were good!". Basin instead naay makahinumdom moingon nga "Was it you at Hard Rock Cafe who forgot the lyrics and off key?"

So, I'll better be prepared and take all TB members' advice.

Hey you guys!

This is it! I will be performing tomorrow at 4 p.m. The venue changes twice this week from Hard Rock Cafe to Kennel Club, and 2 days ago they changed it to Harlow's in Downtown Sacramento. ;(

I put all together your advices in a piece of paper and I'll bring the TB in me to remind me of what to do when nervousness attacks.

Nice to hear that we do have some good rockers in the house,just give your best Ytess it's nicer if you could view the tapes of AXL Rose of Guns and Roses you might get some good tricks from them.

You have nothing to worry, i think it is normal getting scared performing before the public...even prominent stars admitted their nervousness upon performance. Why not you as a beginners? Hello All! The concert was a success! I never thought I'd enjoy the show but I actually did! Hapon and her band (which include her husband Kim) did a great job!

Gem, I know it was so hard to listen kay banha kaayo that's why I didn't call Beth anymore kay basin si Bob makatubag.

Thank you guys for all your support! The TB advices really helped me. I was doing the deep breathing over and over, praying, and pacing back and forth to the restroom!

In the green room, the band members keep telling me that "Tess you can do this!" and that "our songs are much better that the other bands"! I have to admit that few of the songs that the other bands performed were really good knowing that they are beginners like me too.

We all had fun and I love it! Definitely, I will do it again and this time with my mother-in-law and Smiffy!

Thanks Ate Ging, Minyat Ba-be Smiffy, and Tia Edna for coming! You guys rock!

Honestly, I was using papel di hapon when I was between 9 to 12 years old ug ang lip gloss kay mantika sa baboy or uwel.
