Answer:

Most of the Chinese that immigrated to the Philippines came from the southern part of China. They are from Cantonese and Hakka speaking regions of China.

The Cantonese and Hakka Languages are originally from  Guangdong, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Hainan and Fujian provinces of China.

Most of my Chinese friends in the Philippines trace their ancestry to Fujian, specifically the southern part of the province. Interestingly, forebears of a good number of them come from the island(s) of Quemoy (presently transcribed as Kinmen), which is administered by ROC. I am told that some of them carry 3 passports: Philippine, PRC and ROC.

Yes, the Hakka dialect is spoken in Fujian, and if we look at the following map, the distance from Fujian (colored pink) to Taiwan and Luzon is quite close.



Many Chinese that settled in Ilocos region of the Philippines are of Hakka descent. The Hakka people , when they migrated to the Philippines, settled in Luzon, whereas the Cantonese settled in parts of Luzon, but mostly throughout the Visayas and Mindanao.
