Faith provides consolation for people who are dying. I've seen very old, and weak patients who were dying, yet despite this, were so very strong up to the very end. I had a patient who prayed her rosary every day. When she coded, her hands were still holding her rosary.

Such strong, such beautiful faith truly provides strength in such time.

We should not be afraid to die. We all just need to be ready for it. I believe that we will all be judged someday as to how we lived. Moreover, we should leave good memories to the people we will leave behind. I am not afraid to die, I am just not ready yet, spiritually. But what can we do when our time comes?

Good message. You're right in that we cannot do anything when our time is nigh. I guess , the best thing we can do is to try to live out our faith to the best of our ability. To do good with one another, and to walk daily with our God so as to be in friendship with Him in the land of the living, so that we can hope to be worthy of seeing Him and being with Him after our death.

In my honest opinion, I do believe that physical death is not the end. I've had experiences where when a patient dies, things move in the room. A nurse once told me that these things are caused by the "spirit leaving the body".

I have felt this personally. Unexplainable by science. :/

A patient of mine who was an adorer of the Virgin Mary , the one who I described in my post in this thread -- who died with her rosary in her hand-- well, when she passed, I and many other nurses smelled the scent of roses. It was such a strong and beautiful scent-- as if we were in a garden of roses. But there were no roses...to be found!

really Doc? So many tried to refute that there is no life after death, but there are mysterious things that cannot be explained by science. Those who experienced a near death experience mentioned that they all saw light and they felt a different kind of peace within them. I guess that's great! It's hard to have peace within yourself...errr...myself :)

Life , in general, is never easy and without any difficulties, mg. I honestly believe that if you live as honestly as possible, by following the golden rule, "do unto others as you would have others do unto you," it will steer one to the path to God. Building a personal relationship with God is a continuous phenomena, and we have to maintain that relationship with him. And you can do it. We have to live out our faith....

As for life after death, i do believe there is life after death. Science cannot explain everything... :P

It will solve itself, somehow. There is nothing to do, not even anything to think of. It will be as easy as pie, really...

If there is no life after death, then, why fear? right? let's say, hypothetically for the sake of argument, wa la diay life after death. So what? Is it wrong to believe anyways? Does it count against someone? At least during life one had a spiritual, mental coping mechanism of dealing with stress, dealing with anxiety, joy, humility, and had a guide how to live life in the sense of morals and ethos. Kai og mamatay na, wala naman diay. It will just be complete black, nothingness. Devoid of all suffering, questions, feelings. Nothing.

So, the arguments of the anti-theists come to nothing. Their being anti-theists will not save them from the same fate of those who do believe in an afterlife. Kai tanan ra man pod mamatay.  8)
