My Answer:

There are some positive results of organizational stressors and they include a greater response time towards deadlines, increased work load , productivity increases, pooling of resources and to an extent a cohesion of resources for the completion of one goal. We all understand that negative stressors usually result in the worker experiencing anxiety, tachycardia, and psychological strain. However, organizations and companies can create positives from this inherent negative by creating processes in which it allows the pooling of resources, namely the skills of each worker, for the solution of a problem. Thomas and Hersen divulge in detail about this by stating that companies and organizations can build cohesive work teams that can work in a collaborative manner (Thomas and Hersen, 2002).

Cooper talks about how organizations can provide supportive channels for workers who have experienced considerable stress and even cases of mental strain because of the magnanimity of work-related duties and stressors. Cooper divulges to us that there are training programs , rehabilitation programs and counseling.

The difference between perceived and actual stressors is that actual stressors are environmental strain that can have a direct effect on an individual. Perceived stressors are not actual direct threats, but are considered by the mental processes of a certain individual (Thomas and Hersen, 2002, p. 44).

In my life, my priorities as a medical intern and graduate student in medical epidemiology (dual MD-Ph.D program) provides me with a feeling of positivity that helps reduce the stress (mental strain) in the amount of information that is required not only in my clinical rotations, but also for a graduate degree in epidemiology. The effective use of diaphragmatic breathing is utilized on my part during times of extreme stress; regular physical exercises are a must for me as it provides a way of release. The kinds of actions and priorities that can lead to imbalance would be the outright evasion of duties, thus leaving the problems unresolved. Physical activity (in the hospital floor and in reading, studying, is the tool that is utilized to offset feelings of intrapsychic tension secondary to work load pressures).
