The 13th ALEM Meeting has now come to a successful end and we are now looking forwards to the Viet Nam 2006 Year. In view of the need to build on what we have achieved during the successful year 2005 in Korea and thanks to your valuable inputs, I have the honor to represent member economies to announce the Theme and Sub themes of the APEC 2006 Year in Viet Nam as follows:
I/APEC 2006 Theme:
"Towards a Dynamic Community for Sustainable Development and Prosperity"
II/ APEC 2006 Sub-themes:
Enhancing Trade and Investment with the Busan Roadmap and the Doha Development Agenda
Strengthening Economic and Technical Cooperation for Gap Bridging and Sustainable Development
Improving Secure and Favorable Business Environment
Promoting Community Linkages
It is our firm conviction that given such theme and sub themes for the Viet Nam Year 2006, we will be able to advance the APEC cooperation process to achieve our vision of prosperity and sustainable development.
