The 5th APEC R&D Leaders' Forum has concluded in Christchurch, New Zealand, with a series of conclusions and recommendations for APEC Member Economies with a joint session with APEC Science Ministers.
Grouped according to four specific policy areas, the conclusions and recommendations are now available on by clicking here and are grouped according to four policy areas:
Connecting research and innovation
Human capacity building
International science and technology networks
Technology cooperation and best practice in strategic planning
The forum began on March 11 and brought together policy makers, business representatives and academics from around the APEC Region to look at current research and development challenges.
Working under the theme of "Capturing Value From Science" the forum featured a range of experts in their fields:

Yoshio Matsumi, Executive Counsellor and General Manager, Innovative Technology Business Development Office, Itochu Corporation
Dr Christian Samper, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History
Dr Lee Ki-Won, Executive Vice President, Samsung Electronics Company
Professor Peter Hunter, Director, Bioengineering Institute, University of Auckland
Dr Angus Livingstone, Managing Director of the University-Industry Liaison Office of the University of British Columbia
The 4th APEC Ministers' Meeting on Regional Science and Technology Cooperation was run concurrently with the APEC R&D Leaders Forum. The Ministers' Meeting Concludes on Friday.
