President Widodo meets predecessor, both pledging to solve nation's issues
JAKARTA, March 9 (PNA/Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Thursday met his predecessor Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the presidential palace and both pledged to work together to solve issues faced by the nation.
The meeting came following the request of Susilo Bamgang Yudhoyono, palace spokesperson Johan Budi said.
Addressing a joint press conference after their meeting, Susilo spoke highly of the government's success in hosting the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) summit and in welcoming Saudi Arabian King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud's visit to the country.
"I and Jokowi sincerely want to further develop this country," Susilo said.
The two's last meeting was on Dec. 8, 2014 at Jokowi's inauguration as the nation's seventh president. (PNA/Xinhua)
