Japan's agriculture ministry plans to ease regulation to revitalize struggling regional horse racing, ministry officials said Saturday.
Operators will be allowed to decide more flexibly how much of betting ticket revenue is distributed as winnings, the officials said.
The ministry hopes to submit a bill to revise the horse racing law to the current Diet session ending in June.
The current law stipulates that horse racing operators distribute 75 pct of their ticket revenue as winnings.
