The Japanese and U.S. governments are considering revising the current program for U.S. military realignment in Japan, it was learned Friday.
The focal point is whether to separate a plan to transfer U.S. Marines from the southernmost Japan prefecture of Okinawa to Guam and another to relocate the Marine Corps' Futenma air station within Okinawa.
Japan is holding discussions with the U.S. side in a calm and flexible manner, Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Genba said at a press conference.
