The U.S. government said Friday it is in talks with Japan to review a plan to transfer Marines from Okinawa Prefecture to Guam as part of realignments of U.S. military bases in Japan.

"The two governments are now communicating closely and in a flexible manner regarding the way ahead on a number of related issues," based on a U.S. strategic review of its defense posture in Asia, the Defense Department said in a statement.

The department stressed the two nations' commitment to implementing another key item in the realignment, a plan to relocate the Marine Corps' Futenma air station in Ginowan, Okinawa, to Nago of the same prefecture in southern Japan.

Japanese and U.S. sources said the two nations are considering reducing the number of Marines who will be transferred to Guam from Okinawa to around 4,500 from the planned 8,000.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
