What is Facebook Create Passkey?
« on: Yesterday at 08:55:03 AM »
On Facebook, “Create passkey” means you can set up a passkey as an alternative to your Facebook password.

A passkey uses your phone's built-in security, such as:

Fingerprint

Face recognition

Phone PIN/pattern

How it works

Instead of typing your Facebook password when signing in, Facebook can ask you to verify yourself using your phone's fingerprint, face scan, or PIN.

The passkey is stored securely on your device (and, depending on your setup, may sync through your password manager such as Google Password Manager).

Is it safe?

Yes. Passkeys are generally more resistant to phishing than passwords. Your biometric information itself isn't sent to Facebook. Your device uses it locally to unlock the passkey.

For example:

Facebook login → “Use passkey” → fingerprint → you're signed in.

Should you create one?

If this is your personal phone that you control, creating a passkey is generally a good security option. You should still keep your Facebook recovery methods—such as your email/phone number—up to date.

Important: Don't create a Facebook passkey on a phone or computer that other people can unlock with their fingerprint/PIN, because they could potentially use that device to access your account.
