Corporate News : SEC Establishes Service Subsidiaries in CISSeoul, Korea, February 17, 1997:Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced that it will be accelerating into the emerging markets of China, the CIS and India. At the same time, the company is bolstering its overseas business by establishing well equipped service capabilities, the key to determining its ultimate success or failure.
Samsung Electronics exported 2 million color TVs to Russia and Eastern Europe in 1966. To continue expanding exports to this part of the world and ensure customer satisfaction, Samsung Almaty Service Co., Ltd. (SALSC) and Samsung Ukraine Service Co., Ltd. (SUSC) were established around the beginning of this year. The two new service subsidiaries are equipped with offices, reception desks, repair shops, training centers and parts warehouses. They will provide service support to a network of over 300 after-sale service providers in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Modavia.
In the first quarter of every year, these service subsidiaries will provide training to after-sales service technicians throughout the region. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to at least double the number of after-sales service centers by the end of this year. At the beginning stage, the after-sales service centers were supplying 75 of all parts and material in-house, but Samsung Electronics is now bringing that figure up to 90. Samsung also plans to offer a `traveling after-sales service` (free of charge) which is based on Samsung Electronics belief of going to the customer instead of simply waiting for them to come to us.
Unlike service centers previously established by Samsung Electronics, SALSC and SUSC will be responsible for local sales as well as maintenance and repair. By localizing operations, they are expected to be operated as self-sustaining profit centers.
This year, the Customer Service Division is planning on effectively organizing the 12,000 some service centers, like depot, FSC(Factory Service Center), Semi-FSC and AST (After Service Center), located throughout our five regional headquarters and integrated manufacturing complexes.
