STRONG DIGITAL CAREER SYSTEM FOR THE PANDEMIC NEW NORMAL
With further reopening of the economy, less travel restrictions, and the multimodal ways of learning of schools, I am pushing for creating now a strong digital career system.
To further promote digital careers in Mindanao, I am supporting the thrust of MSU-IIT to build its
own data center and technology innovation facilities. This multi-year project will create needed digital careers for Mindanaoans.
For the digital economy we need, I filed House Bill 7048 (National Digital Careers Act) and House Bill 7049 (National Digital Transformation Act).
Our country urgently needs these two measures to become laws so we can cope with the new normal challenges up ahead.
Our country's technology colleges, like the MSU Iligan Institute of Technology, can serve as the hubs for digital careers.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced our country to make our digital economy stronger. We were fortunate to have a strong and growing BPO sector. We should strengthen the BPO industry with better infrastructure and a steady supply of digital career specialists.
Iligan City is a major education hub of Mindanao. Thousands of Mindanaoans come to Iligan to study at MSU-IIT and other schools in our city.
HB 7048 and HB 7049 serve as House versions of bills originally filed by Senator Sonny Angara as Senate Bills 1469 and 1470 respectively. (END)
