Original Creativity Generally Starts With a Need or a Problem to SolveThere are all types of creativity, and there are some psychologists that believe that behind every piece of creativity is a need, want, desire, or a problem to solve. That's a pretty interesting statement, and one that's rather hard to refute, I'm sure if we thought about it long enough, we could come up with instances where original creative thinking didn't start in that way, but for the most part I do believe that much of it does.
