Pintados Kasadyaan street dancing highlights Feast of Sto. Niño celebration
Tacloban City (29 June 2005) -- As Tacloban celebrates the annual feast of Sto. Niño, the Leyte Pintados Foundation presents the traditional display of the Pintados Kasadyaan Street Dancing Festival today. This joyous street dancing around the city will start and end at the Leyte Sports Complex or Grandstand. After the parade, a presentation of the different municipal festivals of the Leyte and Samar provinces will immediately follow.
The Pintados Festival of Tacloban City is a yearly activity held in honor of the miraculous Sto. Niño de Leyte, which showcases our ancestors' practice of body paintings and how they first became christians. It is now being considered as one of the landmark events in Leyte.
The Leyte Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals on the other hand, is a dance-drama parade and dance presentations portraying unique culture, colorful history and the way of life distinct to the different municipalities of the Province. This was first celebrated through the leadership of the then Leyte Governor Remedios "Matin" Petilla. (PIA-AMO
