Seeking the truth thru legal means

Cebu City (23 June 2005) -- As the nation mourns for Cardinal Sin until he is laid to rest on June 28, the period is ripe to put the destiny of the country into proper perspective as people close to and love the cardinal remember the man and his contribution to the country's history.

The fate of each and every Filipino truly depends on how we will unite as a nation in the face of the global challenge, the business sector said today in a media interview.

"We have gone through the same rough roads before and we are confident that our experience and proven resilience will help us withstand and overcome our trials," Presidential spokesperson Ignacio Bunye said.

Bunye added, these political and economic challenges must steel the resolve of the government to keep on track and sustain the momentum of gains. With greater unity and focus, the economy is insulated from political pressures and stay the course of putting the fiscal house in order, growing investments and jobs and spreading the safety nets to ease the burdens of the people, Bunye opined.

Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal on the other hand, urges the people to seek the truth and work for justice and peace in our land. This was contained in a press statement as the cardinal led the archdiocese to mourn the death of Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin.

"There is a call from the people for the President to be transparent and to use the peaceful and legal means in coming up with the truth," the cardinal said.

On the on-going wiretapping house inquiry, Presidential spokesperson Ignacio Bunye said, what is important at this point is that there is already a proper venue in place to discuss and look into all the matters concerning the wiretapping controversy and the government appreciates the speedy and smooth handling of the inquiry. Bunye assures the legislators of the government's cooperation in ferreting out the truth behind it. (MBCN/PIA-Cebu)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
