Results on the use of contraceptives to be out soon
by Jemin B. Guillermo
Roxas City (23 June 2005) -- Updated information for the rapid assessment of contraceptive use in the Philippines will soon be available.

Provincial Statistician Frankie Dordas of the National Statistics Office disclosed that their office has recently conducted the 2005 family planning survey (FPS) together with the April 2005 labor force survey (LFS).The 2005 FPS involved interviewing all female members aged 15 to 49 years, regardless of marital status, who were usual members of the LFS sample households, he said, adding that the same was the ninth in the series of annual family planning surveys their office has undertaken since 1995.

The survey aims to determine the contraceptive prevalence rate in 2005, the contraceptive methods used by women, the differentials on the use of contraceptive methods between the poor and the non-poor women, know the unmet need for family planning, the discontinuation rate and the source of supplies and services.

Dordas explained that this year's survey has included selected questions pertaining to maternal and child health.Specifically, the percentage of children protected at birth against neonatal tetanus, percentage of women who are breastfeeding and its duration, and the percentage of children below 5 years old who received Vitamin A.

Dordas added that the survey also includes a rider questionnaire that will provide the Department of health data that can be used to evaluate its 'Ligtas Buntis' 2005 campaign. (PIA)

Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
