No "sacred cows" in government - PGMA
MANILA (26 June 2005) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been consistent with her stand that there are no "sacred cows" in her administration.
The statement was made by Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) started its formal investigation into the assets of the President's brother-in-law, Congressman Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo over his alleged ownership of the "Jose Pidal" bank account.
Bunye, who is also the Presidential Spokesman, said the full brunt of the law will be enforced whoever gets hurt.
"The government is gearing for Phase two of its economic reform agenda, and the BIR's campaign against tax cheats is part of putting the fruits of tough reforms to work," he added. (PIA-MMIO)
