2016 News in Bohol: These are the words of lawyer Salvador Diputado reacting to the move of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to declare him as a persona non grata.
On Friday the SP declared Diputado, a veteran news person and a radio anchor, persona non grata for alleged “malicious journalistic caprices.” (see related story)
But Diputado in an emailed statement to The Bohol Tribune said, “How could the Bohol SP thru board member Benjie Arcamo pass a resolution that has no basis in the Local Government Code or in the 1987 Philippine Constitution?”
The lawyer said the declaration of persona non grata applies only in diplomacy, “when a receiving state considers any member of a diplomatic mission of a sending state as not acceptable.”
