Cotabato receives 500 bags of Hybrid Yellow Corn seeds

Koronadal City (31 January 2006) -- Five hundred bags of Hybrid Yellow Corn seeds were given to the municipal government of Pikit, Cotabato along with the launching of new agribusiness lands in their place by the Department of Agriculture XII (DA 12).

DA 12 Director Abusama M. Alid said that the seeds provided by GSI and BioSeed companies amounted to P1, 500.00 per bag where P1, 200.00 will be shouldered by their agency and the remaining P300.00 will be sponsored by the local government of Pikit headed by Mayor Motin Malingco.

On the other hand, Alid disclosed that the new farmlands given to the municipality particularly in Buliok Complex will help generate jobs and reduce costs of wage goods since the agency will focus on the development of the said agribusiness lands.

"The implementation of new farmlands is a big contribution to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's 10-Point Agenda principally on job generation," Alid added.

Alid also stressed that other government interventions in the Complex are the development of farm to market roads, transportation, marketing center, housing and other infrastructure projects. (baundi/rafid/DA12/PIA 12)
