13 more bridges for inclusion in PGMA's bridge program in Central Visayas
Cebu, Philippines (1 March 2010) -- The economic development committee of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in Central Visayas approved for endorsement the inclusion of 13 additional bridges for Cebu and Siquijor to the "Tulay Ng Pangulo Para sa Kaunlarang Pang-agraryo program.

The additional bridges for Cebu are located in the towns of Sibonga, Barili, Daan-Bantayan, Catmon (2), Compostela (2) and Aloguinsan (3) costing about P463-million. The three (3) additional bridges for Siquijor are located in Larena (2) and one in Siquijor costing some P62-million.

According to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR-7) in the region, the "Tulay Ng Pangulo Para sa Kaunlarang Pang-agraryo" is described as a bridging project for the agrarian reform communities (ARCs) that are funded under the Agrarian Reform Program.

The President's bridge program gives emphasis on the construction and or rehabilitation of bridges and the provision of other key support services such as livelihood, farm inputs, others that would promote sustainable development in the beneficiary areas.

DAR-7 added, the program actually aims to facilitate the reach of agrarian communities to become productive assets and opportunities in terms of land, capital, employment, and networks.

It will also bring government closer to them through other services such as health, education, basic welfare and infrastructure.

"Bridges open access to basic government services to the countryside which results into increased income and better quality of life of the agrarian communities and other farmers in remote areas," DAR said. (PIA-Cebu/MBCN)

"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
