MANILA (1 December 2005) -- Malacañang reiterated President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's innocence in the alleged rigging of the 2004 election and welcomed the efforts of former Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano to set the
record straight and put closure to the issue.
Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye made the statement as five committees of Congress hearing the wiretapping controversy will resume its investigation on December 7 in view of Garcillano's latest appearance.
"We have nothing to hide, and nothing to fear from the truth," Bunye stressed.
He pointed out that those who have been unfairly dragged into this controversy have already suffered enough. Hence, it is but just for them to be vindicated once more.
"The opposition is bent on opening another front of muckraking and propaganda despite the ill effects this will inflict upon our economy and the lives of our people," the Secretary warned. (PIA-MMIO
