Albur landfill aims for February opening
2017 News Archive: After several delays, the landfill in Albur is slated to open next month. The opening ends more than a decade of delays of the P 300 million landfill.
On Tuesday, a ceremonial turnover of the lots of the landfill from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprize Zone Authority to the officials and operator of the landfill.
The turnover was attended by local government officials of Albur and TIEZA namely Engr. Nestor Dumalanta and Engr. Gregory Oller with Gov. Edgar Chatto.
The clustered landfill is the only one of its kind in the country and funded by the TIEZA.
The governor said that the mere act of transporting each member LGU's wastes to Albur is already a big challenge for the rule of segregation at source is one which must be complied with.
Former Mayor Efren Tungol, who was the one who started the project a decade ago is thankful of its realization and calls for full support and cooperation from all member LGUs.
