Zambo jobless rate likely to rise
Dipolog City (1 July 2005) -- "Unemployment rate in the province is likely to increase this year due to new college graduates who are added to throng of the unemployed," this was disclosed by Department of Labor and Employment District Officer Mrs. Francisca Corpus.
Corpus said the government remains the number one employer in the province but there are no jobs available in almost all government agencies in the area.
Aggravating the unemployment problem was the closing down of operations of two bus companies based in Dipolog City-Lilian and Mary May last month that left 200 workers jobless.
Presently the unemployment rate of the province runs between 8 to 9 percent
Meanwhile, DOLE has scheduled a job fair on July 1 and 2 with 20 recruitment agencies signifying their participation. This is in response to the unemployment problem in the province. (PIA)
