Japan Red Cross youth donate to EV students

Tacloban City (29 July 2005) -- Japanese students who are members of the Chiba Prefecture Red Cross are now in Region VIII to interact with the local students who are beneficiaries of the International Project Program and the Water and Sanitation Project of Chiba Red Cross.

Mr. Makoto Okuda, the team leader said that the recipient of the international friendship project is the MacArthur National High School. The project includes donations of school supplies and friendship albums. On the other hand, the recipient of the water and sanitation project three schools in Catbalogan, Samar.

While in Region VIII, the Japanese students will visit old battlefields in Leyte. They will also visit and interact with the pupilse of Mercedes Elementary School, Jiabong

Elementary School, Maulong ElementarySchool, Catbalogan Elementary School, San Andres Elementary School, all in Western Samar.

On July 31, they will come back to Tacloban and will undergo RCY Kabarangay Program Trainings and Junior First Aiders' Program.

The trip is aimed at firming international relationship and understanding among the youth while working together to attain the same goal. The objective is to train and inculcate in the youth the spirit of volunteerism in pursuit of peace and unity in the world. (PIA-8)
