2017 News: Knowing how huge the IT industry in creating employment opportunities, the city government has set its eyes to improve the standing of the city as a next wave city. This way, the city will become a solid information technology (IT) hub and able to compete with other Visayan cities in drawing potential investments and jobs to locals.
The idea of Tagbilaran becoming a solid IT hub comes as a coordinative meeting for the upcoming Digital Bohol Summit in MetroCentre Hotel and Panda Tea Garden Suites on October 14-15, 2016 was conducted with the Bohol ICT Council, Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gov. Edgar Chatto thru the Bohol Investment Promotions Center and the City Government of Tagbilaran as frontrunners.
It will be a convergence among young Filipino global leaders and shapers recognized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be gearing up for the Open Collaboration with East Asia New Champions (Ocean) 2016 Summit from November 24 to 26 at the Be Grand Hotel in Bohol. The summit will introduce and feed a roadmap for “Digital Bohol” — a plan for holistic digital inclusion in Bohol that aims to set the standard for how local leaders can collaborate to harness technology to empower business, government and civil society — the project will start in Tagbilaran City as the pilot and model city.
