BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 8 2012 (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA)-Caraga Region strengthened the “Gulayan sa Paaralan” (Vegetable in School) program in all public elementary and high schools in the region.
DA-Caraga Regional Information Officer Rebecca Atega said aside from providing the schools with different varieties of vegetable seeds, series of activities were conducted last month as an advocacy to the project.
Atega added election of officers were also conducted in every school to strengthen and sustain the activities being conducted in line with the project.
Further, the regional information officer of the agriculture department in the region emphasized that teachers and parents are also involved in the activities as they guide the pupils and students in planting and taking care of the vegetables.

With this development, Atega said the DA will continue to distribute varieties of vegetable seeds to schools to ensure sustainability of the program.
