The ethanol plant in barangay Tamisu, Bais City, which has been blamed for the fishkill in north Bais Bay, has temporarily stopped its operations.
Provincial Board Member Melliemoore Saycon, who is a resident of the same barangay, said that the plant has stopped operations while it was processing its Mayor’s permit and other documentary requirements needed for some environmental clearances.
Saycon said that the public should now stop worrying because the plant has stopped its operations.
However, he called on the plant management to hasten the cleaning of the plant because of the foul odor in the barangay Tamisu coastline, which is believed to come from the said ethanol plant.
Bais City Mayor Mercy Teves-Goni earlier said the plant was operating without a Mayor’s permit.
The plant is expected to release a statement soon. (SGR)
