PGMA strengthened by act of truth-telling - Bunye
MANILA (29 June 2005) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been strengthened by the act of truth-telling when she courageously admitted responsibility over a "lapse of judgement" conversation with an Election official.
Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye issued the statement in response to Standard and Poor's Ratings Services report that President Arroyo's admission could intensify political disturbances and hurt the implementation of fiscal reforms.
Bunye said the statement of apology of the President has already settled the issue of who is in the Captain's seat and who has the moral authority to lead the country.
He added that things will quiet down as the processes of government are no longer hobbled by controversy as the country made a good start in focusing anew to the implementation of economic and fiscal reforms. (PIA-MMIO)
