DOT-CAR conducts training on tourism transport groups
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, February 29 (PNA) -– In continuing with the tourism program to arm the different transport groups with knowledge as front liners of the tourism industry in the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Department of Tourism Cordillera Regional Office (DOT-CAR) has conducted a seminar attended by some 80 public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators.

Lawyer Juan Nazarro, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Benguet Tourism Transport, Inc. (BTTI) on Monday, February 29 said 25 of the 80 slots were given to the transport group.

Nazarro said the seminar held last week focused on personality development, values formation and effective customer service including road safety and correct driving techniques.

Nazarro said the seminar at the DOT regional office will serve as an awareness campaign for drivers and operators to learn and appreciate the nature and benefits derived from tourism.

It will develop and expand the role of PUV drivers as frontliners and sources of tourism information and to get the support of drivers or operations in the tourism promotional efforts of the country, Nazarro added.

After each completed seminar, the participants will be accredited by the tourism department.

In advancing the tourism industry, the tourism agency coordinated with the Department of Transportation and Communication Cordillera Regional Office (DOTC-CAR) for the issuance of tourist transport franchises and exemption of “vehicles for hire and tourist transport” services from the moratorium on franchise issuance.

Nazarro said 14 members of the BTTI have completed the DOTC requirements while the others are still in the process of completion. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
