DILG partners with Bacolod City village officials to strengthen anti-drug abuse program

BACOLOD CITY, March 1 (PNA) -- The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has trained officials from all 61 barangays in this city to strengthen the government's anti-drug abuse program.

Carmelo Orbista, officer-in-charge of DILG-Bacolod, said in a report Wednesday after the two-day seminar-workshops that he is thankful to the barangay captains and the city government for their strong support to the war against drugs.

“Your presence is important and indispensable,” Orbista said as he stressed everyone’s cooperation to win the war on drugs.

The DILG organized the program “Strengthening the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs)” in cooperation with the City of Bacolod.

The first cluster included officials from 30 barangays while the second cluster included those from the remaining 31 barangays.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, chairman of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), said barangay officials have an important role in winning the campaign against illegal drugs especially at the barangay level.

Other speakers included Wardley Gattalla, acting assistant regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region, Superintendent Levy Pangue of the Bacolod City Police Office, and Executive Assistant to the Mayor Rodel Parcon.

Discussed were the Roles and Functions of the BADACs, Barangay Drug-Clearing Operation Strategy, and The Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program.

Prior to the seminar-workshop with the village officials, the CADAC conducted a four-day training-seminar for support groups for its drug rehabilitation program.

The training program was held in preparation for the implementation of the eight-week Community-Based Training and Food for Work Programs for the drug surrenderers and convicted drug personalities in Bacolod, to be spearheaded by the CADAC Committee on Rehabilitation. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
