Budget training for barangay officials
LEGAZPI CITY, Oct. 1 2002 (PNA) -- Respective officials of the 70
Barangays of this city are undergoing a two-day workshop on budgeting
and public funds disbursement, the city budget officer here said this
morning.
The training which started Monday aims to enhance barangay
officials, knowledge on budgeting as well as sourcing of funds to
finance their projects.
Participants to the workshop are barangay budget officers, Barangay
Captains, Barangay Treasurers, SK Chairmen and chairmen of Committees
on Appropriation.
City Budget Officer Obelia Baldano, said her office is routinely
conducting said seminar on yearly basis to equip the barangay
officials with new techniques and updates on budget processing,
compensation and benefits of officials in the barangays.
But it was found out that barangay officials are slow in the
preparation of their calendar-year budget compared to what is
expected of them.
Because of this, Baldano hopes to give more inputs for the barangay
officials on more efficient functions as servants of their respective
