Published: December 31, 2006 by The Bohol Standard

The old provincial Capitol would have burned to the ground first, earlier than the Cebu capitol fire, two days after Christmas, if not of the alert guards posted in the area.

Re[ports from the General Services Office revealed that one of the lanterns displayed for the Pista ng mga Parol Contest caught fire on the night of after the contest.

Guards Estillore and a certain Elvin Jotojot patrolling the front portion of the stone building noticed smoke coming from the array of lanterns made out of indigenous materials.

One of the lanterns was already burning and the flames reaching the ceiling of the Capitol, underneath the office of the Governor.

The guards were able to put out the fire before it can spread to the other wooden portion of the old Capitol building.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
