The sudden death of Antequera Mayor Elect Jaime Quibel on May 30, 2007 due to cardiac arrest has shocked the Boholano community.
Cong. Edgar M. Chatto expressed his profound sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family. He said “my family and I are deeply saddened with the untimely demise of a good friend, Antequera Mayor- elect JAIME QUIBEL. The late Jaime would have become one of Bohol’s most outstanding town leaders as he was elected unopposed last May 14 and would have assumed as Antequera’s next town chief executive by June 30. In his lifetime, he championed the cause of micro enterprise development in Antequera and in some nearby towns by providing jobs and helping raise the income of many families. We extend our sincerest condolences to the bereaved family as we offer our prayers for the late Jaime’s eternal repose. We mourn with the people of Antequera in this time of great loss.â€
It may be recalled that Mr. Quibel was a former Sangguniang Bayan Member of Antequera; a High School Teacher of Christ the King Academy, Antequera; and pioneered Handicraft Exportation in the province. As a Handicraft Exporter, he helped in the poverty alleviation of the municipality of Antequera, neighboring towns and the entire province by providing raw materials, buying the finished products and at the same time conscientiously paying the laborers what was due them.
The kindness of the late Jaime will always be remembered and will remain in the hearts of the people of Antequera.
