When a thief forces you to take money from the ATM,
« on: September 11, 2009, 04:00:19 AM »
When a thief forces you to take money from the ATM, do not argue or resist. You might not know what he or she might do to you. What you should do is to punch your PIN in the reverse mode.
I.e. if your PIN # is 1254, you punch 4521.The moment you punch in the reverse mode, the money will come out, but will be stuck into the machine half way out and it will alert the Police (security) without the notice of the thief. Every ATM has it; it is specially made to signify danger and help. Not everyone is aware of this.

Forward this to all your loved ones, friends and those you care about.

Sorry manay tess but i beg to disagree with this. This (mis)information has been circulated in the internet for months and this is found to be untrue by no less than the bank institution itself.

When you reversed in encoding your PIN, the ATM ONLY treats this as error in PIN and "TRANSACTION ERROR" message will surely appear on the ATM screen. Forcing the same 3x will have your card be captured by the ATM, worst, you may get the ire of the robber in case you are being forced to withdraw by somebody.

The best way to avoid this is to be extra cautious when using ATM, thats the only thing one can do.

Salamat sa iyong crticism Gener, ngayon lang nakatanggap uli ako ng email na ganito ang laman. I´m not concerned on this since we have stricter rules here in Germany, I was hoping this could help the local bank customers sa Pinas.

Kanus-a man ka mu-uli sa Guindulman?  Kay mag scuba ta sa lugar sa imong igsoon didto?

Dili man ni tinuod m'am Tess.  Kining imong pin number mura pud nig imong password.  Ug imong balihon dili na mo match so error or incorrect ang message.  Ug balihon nato basin kini ang mogawas. Hehe pasi-aw sa sayong kagabhi-on diri sa Pinas.
