After an undergraduate course in Plant Protection I enrolled at the Asian Institute of Journalism for a Master's in Media Management and Diplomate in Journalism. Thesis na lay kulang. Giabtan og wala nay resources.

i find kinship in your field. here are hopes that your thesis sees fruition soon.

i had media-related work for about a decade, taught college for a while, pursued a master's degree in literature (and, like you, stopped short of a thesis after passing the comprehensive exams because i had to leave the country). now i'm a full-time housewife.

truly, there's no way of knowing where the paths we trek would lead.

It is nice to know the background of the people we are talking here.

I regretted so much for not pursuing what I supposed to do. I took Master of Public Admistration at Adamson's University. I was not able to finish owing to the nature of my job. I worked with WB funded projects and my travels all over the Phillipines were very extensive. Now, I regretted that. The money was good but I lost the time and opportunities.

I studied criminal justice in the US, halted for some changes in personal affairs. Hopefully, I can finish it before the end of the year.

Ultimately, in the Law School next year, if I my pocket allows me.

We really have similar experiences. I also took up law while working with a foreign-funded project. But after completing it, I ran out of resources for the bar. Also, I was hired in another foreign-funded project that brought me back to Bohol.

Dun wory too much. Drop out sad ko once upon a time. But that shouldn't end there. You can pursue courses and complete them... only if you want to or need to. If you don't need to complete a graduate or post grad program, (or even college), you do not have to.... unless you need it.

But to answer the post, yeah I did pursue grad work after I dropped out from med school. Finished a Ph.D. (chem) instead and now working for an oil company outside the Phil... What would the world do without Bol-anons?

Thats a good suggestion pjlim3 but i decided to educate my son's first..

Wala bitaw na sa graduate. Usa sa akong Uncle Ph.D Hydraulic Engineering from Dundee University in UK, pero mas dato pa man gyud akong ubang relatives nga wala kahuman.

Diskarte baya usahay ang kinabuhi. Dire sa America, walay propesyon propesyon basta naay trabaho heck. Daghan usab nga mga professional mag-caregiver kay naa diha ang kwarta.

Pero para nako it is not how much you earn it is how you spend your earning matters.

As what I have observed, Pinoys who really made it in the USA, regardsless of profession or no profession, do really show what they can afford. Most of my relatives go moonlighting to buy a very big house with tennis court and swimming pool but they donÂ´t have time to enjoy them.

After college in 1991, balhin balhin trabaho usa. Then I took MS Environmental Studies from 2000-02. Human na ta ang comprehensive exam thesis na lang kuwang naminyo man ko unya milangyaw sa lajong dapit mao wa na kahuman.

Karon bisan morag napasmo nang utok mosuway pa gihapon. I plan to take PgDip/MSc Coastal Zone Management kung dili this year next year. Fingers cross...

Very true. A lot of what passes for knowledge, especially the type acquired in colleges and universities, is of little help when it comes to making a living, and may even be utterly useless when it comes to making a life.

I'm a dropout but I'm a believer in education. Formal education (as in having degrees to show for what one knows, or to bully others into thinking--often incorrectly--that one is the better for it) to my mind is what's overrated. I've met a lot of idiot PhDs in my time. As Mark Twain wryly commented, "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education."

Ang course nga akong planong kuhaon is all internet-based, which is preferable to my current situation. Ang Open U man god kay one weekend a month magkita ang klase and the nearest campus to me is some hours drive. Nobody will look after the kids since my wife works on weekends. I agree on the culture change on this kind of learning, though but I guess I will have to adapt. Just like my plan to do home working in the near future which is still strange to me but its the signs of the times di ba? All my work can be done in the comforts of home nowadays.

Walay katapusan ang edukasyon, ma eskwelahan man o sa gawas niini, tungod kay, matud pa, everyday events are learning experiences.

Poverty and marriage prevented my eldest sister from pursuing a college degree after high school, but she persevered until she became a full-fledged teacher at age 45, and was immediately hired by the Department of Education until her retirement at past 60.

Working student sa College (Secretary course). Nakatrabaho sa Capitolyo ang sweldo igo ra gibayad sa UB tuition fees sa night classes (Commerce til 3rd year). Got married, landed an office job by the US military in Germany, now I work in Siemens in 2 shiftings for over 27 yrs, doubled with household chores. Am praying hard to stay healthy to enjoy my well-earned future pension and hope in Bohol. So far, am enrolled in TB and FB as sideline/fun activities and go for vacation everywhere if there`s COH. Have a beautiful/stressless life! Am enjoying my days....life is too short, anyway!

My grandfather once boasted to his friends, who were the Provincial treasurer, Provincial Auditor, Governor and Tagbilaran Municipal Engineer--when he was asked what school he went to, he replied, "UE!"

They thought he meant 'University of the East', but he corrected them, "University of Experience!".
