2010 Presidentiables
« on: November 28, 2008, 11:08:04 PM »
as early as now, the above-mentioned personalities already showed interest in running the top post to run our country. who do you think is the closest to your mind that you that can lift up the spirits and lives of the filipinos? if you have someone in mind please suggest. we need to run this poll to see how (we) boholanos give their respective opinion as this is also will somehow help us gauge our votes just in case people in the list will pursue their quest.

Non of the above!

Ahah! You're choice is still probably in grade school ;D

Remember that commercial? In the middle of a grade school class, an empty chair has a sign which says, "Reserved for the future President of the Philippines."

Sen. Emmanuel "Manny" Villar - he's a proven businessman but can he be a good leader?
Joseph "Erap" Ejercito Estrada - no longer needed.
Vice-President Noli "Kabayan" De Castro - he's good but he lacks support from the majority
Sen. Loren Legarda - doesn't have the tools to lead a country
Mayor Jejomar "Jojo" Binay - can he do the same thing on what he did to makati?
MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando - can he really can impose his will the same way he lead MMDA?
Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson - this is his 3rd time to run if he really is running again, will he succeed now?
Sen. Mar "Mr. Palengke" Roxas - is he qualified to run, looks like he's still young.

I think Roxas is fine too for president but what do I know. :)  if he wasn't involved in any known graft and corruption charges and his only handicap is his being young (that is if we can call it handicap), let's not forget that Obama is young too and he is trusted now to lead the powerful USA.  For all we know, Roxas' youth is one of his strength.

We need young breed of leaders to steer the fate of our nation in the likes of Mar Roxas and Ces Escudero. I am tired already with traditional politics which did nothing to uplift the sad plight of our people. I go for Mar Roxas for his untainted record in the government. He has the brain of an economist.

sir, miriam is no longer keen on running as president. she's instead interested in the judiciary as one of the justices in the supreme court.

we should never commit the mistake of electing a president like noli de cashtro. he only looks good on tv because that's the only thing he's good at -- magka pogi. behind the wholesome facade, there's nothing there.

Please expound, bolingitboy!  Was he effective as a VP though?  I am not proud to say I don't know much about our VP and what he does for our country.  All I can say is that he isn't as controversial as the President or the previous VPs.  Or, am I wrong?  So who do you want to be the next president and why? (ngek, mura man ug beauty pageant na Q & A!)

noli de castro has not really done anything substantial for this country as a public official. as a filipino who has basic duties to fulfill for his country, de castro fared better as a broadcast journalist because he at least exposed irregularities in government to his audience and thus can claim a certain level of having accomplished something whose outcome was for other people rather than for himself and his ego. of course as vice president, his job is to sit and wait until the president becomes incapacitated to discharge of her duties and i certainly don't begrudge him for that. it's just that he tries to create the impression that he's helping out people especially OFWs but he can't even do that effectively thus giving an opportunity to manny villar to get into this mission of helping OFWs in distress by bringing them home. now election time is getting closer and as vice president, he seems to have the notion that as such, he should be the next president. this became apparent when he announced that he will not run again as vice president. my concern now is if noli de castro becomes presidential candidate. he is an expert at public relations (read propaganda) and making pa pogi as a media practitioner and you know how easy it is for anyone to get elected to an elective position who has this kind of talent. his election as senator and vice president is probably indicative of this. noli de castro, who is known to any functioning manilan (read well-informed professional) as noli de cashtro, has never done anything concrete to help people out. we certainly don't need him to lead this nation out of the quagmire that it has gotten itself into now. we need the likes of rudy duterte and/or edward hagedorn to lead this nation towards something better in the years ahead because they have what it takes to impose discipline and pursue economic development that is pro filipino (read masa) as opposed to pro elite. of course, i am aware that this "dream team" is only wishful thinking.

Eddie Cabal Gil is a Filipino businessman and politician. He was contesting the 2004 Philippine presidential election.

Gil was known in the 1980s as a strong supporter of President Ferdinand Marcos. He claims to be an international banker and a billionaire, and declared that if elected president, he would make every Filipino a millionaire within one hundred days, and that he would pay off his country's entire national debt (billions of pesos) from his own pocket. This promise attracted a great deal.

What I know is , Judy Araneta his mother, is ready to spend all the family´s fortune to support Mar Roxas´s presidential candidacy.  Araneta Coliseum and the adjascent 6 hectares of this prime land belongs to the Araneta family.

Mar Araneta Roxas has an excellent educational background and  he favored  to abolish the capital punishment  which made him a favorite in Europe.

An intricate pre-nuptial agreement makes the marriage plans with K Sanchez in limbo.

He might gave our country a new promising future.

I don't know much about Noli de Castro kay when I was still in Manila prior to him elected as VP, he was just a broadcast journalist - an effective journalist if I may say so.  But for Loren, sa una na jud na sya pa gwapo points lang kanunay.  She always wants to have a share of the limelight.  Remember that Ces Drilon rescue operation?  She just had to claim score for that!  But one thing I can never forget was how she cried while Oreta was dancing during the empeachment trial for Estrada in 2001 and then couple of years later she ran for VP alongside Fernando Poe as the presidential candidate.

I fell confident that the most qualified and winable for president are Noli de Casstro and Manny Villar.

I fell confident that the most qualified and winable for president are Noli de Casstro and Manny Villar.

Sir Felix, dili lang man duha ang modagan dire as earlier pointed out by Jez aka bol-anon_ko.  Daghan candidates dire for president but duha lang ang prominent kay backed by two strong political parties which are the Democratic and the Republican.  There were at least 5 who ran for president this recently concluded election here in America.

ang vp man gud sa phil wa may job description.. hehehe but noli is really doing good in pag-ibig. lowering of interest rates and extending loan maturities para magkabahay ang mga tawo..

si loren, pagwapa ra jud na. she's known in UP as just that. ang nindot niyang mga episodes sauna sa ABS CBN kay dili man to iyahang idea, sa ilahang writer jud to but she took credit for that. credit grabber. pero sa ces drilon hostage crisis, i thought papogi points pud to pero nangayo tinuod ug tabang si maria ressa adto ni loren kay daghan connections si loren didto.

i think villar is already sure in giving the presidency a shot comes 2010. newspaper, radio and tv ads of his are so obvious he wouldn't have poured that much money if he did not intend to run for a higher office in 2010.

Pareha tag huna-huna calle, si Manny Villar siguro na nga modagan for president.
Dawaton ba kaha siya sa opposition? Bag-o ra man ni siya nga nahimong anti-
arroyo.

Noli and Manny is the dream  fight for president.

with the recent turn of events, i doubt Manny would get the support of the United Opposition except perhaps his own Nacionalista Party.  According to reports, Erap had a hand in the recent coup in the Senate, presumably Erap's way of revenge for being outmaneuvered in his impeachment case in Villar's House of Representatives.

between manny villar and ping lacson, i think the former might be a better president. with ping lacson, he is like a tip of the proverbial iceberg. you only see a small part of himself - the nice self. hidden underneath is something that needs to be explored - and exposed.

Is there something behind the closet that needs to be exposed? A modern day Hitler?

layman, if you recall ping lacson's involvement in the kuratong-baleleng case, you will find a lot things that are hidden but can be read between the lines. also, one needs to remember that what triggered the arrest of the gang -- and their subsequent deaths, was the purpose of retrieving $ 2 million dollars which was hijacked from an armored van days before the arrest. this fact somehow got lost along the way and there's reason to believe that this was deliberately done in order to obliterate the real reason why the incident happened in the first place... anyone who is involved in something like this especially someone who wants to be president ought to have his background and his motives probed.

You are exactly right in your presumptions. What about his being a mastermind of a series of kidnappings of Chinese well-to-dos? Where did he get the funds when he ran for an elective post?

there are a lot of thinking filipinos who believe that the kidnapping of many well-to-do chinese business families were perpetrated to raise election campaign chests that started during the time when erap was named anti-crime chief under which ping lacson served as task force head honcho. it would be then very easy to follow that he would take up where the paoctf ended to continue raising money for the same purpose.

I will always identify P Lacson  with the kuratong-baleleng case. If this man aspires to be a president, and wins,  ambot dili na tingali ko mobalik sa Pinas .

daghan nang rubout mahitabo sa pinas kung modaug si ping. sige man gani ang rubout nga senador pa siya. kana lang nahitabo sa parañaque, maoy pinakangilngig nga hitabo nga akong nahibaw-an kay 17 kabuok patay including a child. mas daghan ang sibilyan nga nadamay. at first ingon ang mga pulis nga suspect to sila pero later on ni-retract igo rang niingon nga it's unfortunate kay didto sila at the time of the encounter kay ang mga suspect nagpataka nalang kuno pamusil as desperate measures. matud pa sa mga saksi, ang mga pulis ang nagsige pataka ug pamusil.

indeed, there seems to be more witnesses to the incident who say it was the police that shot at people indiscriminately who were near the scene of the shooting. mao gani nga nasaypan ang father and child simply because they were riding a vehicle with the same color as the suspects. wa gyud tan-awa sa mga bullok nga pulis kon kinsay nagsakay. pataka lang pamusil... actually this is not the first time that the police killed innocent civilians who were aboard vehicles the same color as the suspects that they are tailing. the sad part is, in the end mahilum lang ang storya as if nothing happened unjustly to innocent people. angay pamutlan ug tudlo nang mga pullis kay trigger happy ra kaau labina kon nagbayhon lang ang gipamusil, walay armas.
