Be ONE of the 15 FELLOWS with multi-awarded writers!

                                       

       IYAS Writing Worshop

 

Ø      Applicants should submit original work: either 6 poems, 2 short stories, or 2 one- act plays using pseudonym, in five (5) computer-encoded hard copies of entries, font size 12, bound or fastened, in separated folders with a diskette (MSWord).

 

Ø      These are to be accompanied by a sealed size 10 business envelope with the author’s real name and pseudonym, a 2x2 ID photo, and a short resume, which must be mailed on or before March 14, 2008.

 

 

Ø      Entries in Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Tagalog or Filipino may be submitted. Fellowships are awarded by genre and by language.

 

Ø      Grant will cover board and lodging and a partial transportation subsidy.

Ms. Genevieve Asenjo was a fellow writer in the 2001 UP National Writers Workshop.

Here's the news published in the national dailies in 2001.

MANILA - Likhaan: The UP Creative Writing Center announces the awarding of ten fellowships to the UP National Writers' Workshop, to be held at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City, October 17-24. The theme of the Davao Workshop is "Lugar sa Pagsulat" to emphasize the importance of writing from the regions.
   The workshop will be directed by Ricardo de Ungria, newly installed chancellor of UP Mindanao and winner of this year's National Book Award for Poetry of the Manila Critics' Circle.
   The chosen fellows are: Genevieve Asenjo (Fiction in Filipino), Jose Duke S. Bagulaya (Poetry in Waray), Daryll Jane Delgado (Poetry in Waray and Fiction in Eglish), Germelina Lacorte (Fiction in English), Gabriela Alejandra Lee (Poetry in English), Michael Ligalig (Fiction in Sugbuanon), Karen Kay Rivero (Poetry in English), Alex de los Santos (Fiction in English), Ramel Taculod (Poetry in Sugbuanon), and Cor Marie Villojan (Poetry in Karay-a).
   The teaching panel will be composed of UP CWC associates and resident fellows Leoncio Deriada, winner of the Carlos Palanca Hall of Fame Award; Cristina Pantoja-Hidalgo, this year's Gawad Balagtas awardee; and multi-awarded writers Gemino Abad and Jose Lacaba.
   Unlike the UP Workshop which is held in Baguio, the October workshop is open only to writers based in the Visayas and Mindanao. It accepts works written in the major Visayan languages, as well as English and Filipino. Fellows should call Tony Serrano at 922-1830 (UP CWC) or Ralph Semino Galan at (0917-411-0854) to confirm their attendance, or call Allan at (082) 293-0310 regarding the travel itinerary.

Scott, I'll change it to Cirilo. Haven't heard of Carlo Bautista. :)

You know Daryll? She told me before nga dili gyud siya magminyo. She wasn't sold out to the idea of marriage. Never gyud siya magminyo, her statement was strongly worded. Last year I found her in friendster nga minyo na sya with a baby. Akong gisukmatan "Asa naman tong imong giingon nga dili jud ka magminyo?" :)

"Time has changed." :)

I still remember that I gave Daryll a book - The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.
