No human can predict the future, only the Lord knows
  when He will judge this unrepentant generation.
 
The Mayans had incredible knowledge about our
  solar system and the universe, but they
  could not predict the future.
Their predictions were not based on divine revelation.
Some unusual things could happen on or near December 21, 2012
It could be the alignment of the earth and the sun with
  the galactic center of the Milky Way could cause some
  disturbances.
Increased intensity in solar storms could cause disruptions.
But whatever occurs, it won't bring about the end of
   the world, the mass extinction of humanity or a quantum
   leap to a new level of human consciousness.

But the rapture could happen in 2012.
"But the end of all things is at hand, be ye
    therefore sober, and watch unto prayer" 1Peter 4:7
