I salute your father!

My lolo was part of the bolo batallion. In valencia, they had their share of 'face to face' combat. Or as what my lolo called the Japanese, "mga Haps"

they say war then was far better than now because, before, they knew who their enemies are. if a man was bow-legged, it's japanese. now, enemies are harder to identify.

Lisod ig-on ang mg Hapon kay dili man sila moaway ug atubangay.

Bisag unsaon basta makapatay sila ug Hapon. Ang gigamit sa Hapon bayoneta . Ang
sa mga guirella sundang ug bunal.

My grandfather, who was a Filipino guerilla, told me that when the Japanese invaded Bohol, they swept through Tagbilaran. And when they came to Valencia, there was a significant Filipino guerilla presence and pro-American group. The Japanese collected and captured the guerillas and Americans and had them line up in what is now present day Badjang Springs.

The Japanese summarily executed them all. And pushed their bodies off the cliff. Their bodies were never retrieved.

My Lolo was part of the bolo battalion, as he was in his late teens when the Japanese invaded. There are some stories that my lolo would not say, and he mentioned instances where he saw the Japs throw Filipinos babies in the air and catch them with their bayonets.

Japanese were also voracious rapists. Many Filipinas were used as sex slaves.

The Brutality of the Japanese.
That is how we were rewarded for our Pro-American stance.

God Bless all the veterans, who died for the Philippines.
