Reality vs Conviction
« on: January 20, 2011, 01:42:05 PM »
Many research studies show that when reality and convictions are at odds with each other, convictions often win. This is the risk called a blindspot, and it is the gravest risk for planners.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

hmmm. good point.

lets look at the current situation in the middle east. during the 2000 intifada, when palestinians were at odds with the military supremacy of israel, they resulted in pernicious suicide tactics. their conviction legitimized their deaths as being an act of martyrdom. and by doing so, gain them direct entry into paradise.

religious conviction is truly a powerful factor.

i should also make reference to the christian crusades during the medieval ages.
