Ms. J. L. Napoles.

What's your opinion?

posed.  that's not her.  this idea i think is because the whistle-blowers have revealed that money came in big bags and sometimes there was no more space in the bedroom, they had to place the money bags in the bath tub.  as for the napoles daughter bathing in money, it's more figurative than literal.

besides, the currency in the picture is euro, not the u.s. dollar, and the u.s. is where she is.

she may have gone to europe for vacations; that would be peanuts for her.  but to be in europe with all that money, if that picture were true... uh, that's unbelievable.  she'd be caught and questioned pronto.  her credit cards/expense accounts can make the rounds in all the expensive places in europe.  no lugging of heavy cash was necessary.  that would be too plebeian for her.

i had a classmate in medical school whose father was a friend of marcos. his parents came to the united states in the early 70's. when i went to visit this guy several years ago (while we were still 1st year medical students proper), his parents' driveway were filled with beautiful automobiles. 2 Bentleys, and 3 rolls royce. His father is multimillionaire who owns a very large hedge funds investment firm, his 3 siblings are both physicians. apparently, his father was given a despedida party by marcos back in the 70s (as they were family friends). with a paycheck. his father used this to cement his life in the united states; and at the same time, maintain their luxurious lifestyle that they had lived in the Philippines.

they're quite wealthy, indeed. his family owns a large medical hospital in California with many satellite clinics; not including their hedge fund investment firm that has some hundred million dollars invested.

my friend doesn't even practice medicine nowadays, he main assists his father in the business. they're investing actively in the philippines right now; emerging market daw that's very lucrative.

last year my friend asked me to join him. with a very, very, very tempting financial offer. i turned it down. not my cup of tea. :P

afterall, in the end, money's not everything.

indeed. this reminds me of a friend back in medical school. where money isn't an issue. i remember the time when i was a student, i had to struggle with money and save my pocket money kai most of my money (and my parents') went to my tuition-- mag spend lang ko og $100 a week for personal use. limited kaajo. most of my friends back then all were like this, mag tinihik intawon kai wa jamo'y kwarts.

then one day after post-exams, a friend whose comes from a very, very wealthy filipino family drove up with his rolls royce (his dad gave it to him as present after getting admitted to medical school). he took us all out (all 10 of us) to a very fine (very tasty) restaurant. we all wanted to chip in for the bill but dili sija gosto. he insisted he will pay. pero ako, i felt so bad. si i tried putting in some money, na suko sija because i insisted. he said to us, "most likely you guys couldnt afford the bill anyways, so just let me pay it..."

the total came up to $3500.

he just swiped it with his card, and voila.

after that time tho, i never let him pay for me. na luod ko sa ijang comment.

the moral that i'm stressing is that there's nothing wrong with being wealthy. its just how one carries his or herself. one can be wealthy and yet at the same time maintain humility about it. this napoles girl should learn a thing or two about humility.

:P

bitaw. carrying cash is so risky nowadays. online banking ra lang, og e-access checking. hahaha! mas safer pa. for me, i don't carry any cash except for an emergency $100 dollar bill. everything else is in my checking card, or my savings card, which is guarded heavily by bank of america's premier monitoring.

simbako ma wa ahoang wallet, pwede ra i tawgon nako ang bank of america nga i-lockdown ahoang account to prevent theft.

;D

it is , honestly, foolish to carry cash in large amounts. my financial analyst friend, who takes care of my 401k and my multiple cds, told me time and time again, "lorenzo, never ever carry cash in large amounts. the risk of loosing it through theft or inadvertent spending is high. distribute your capital and diversify your portfolio." tinuod gajod, kai og maka kita ka'g kwarta sa pitaka, dali ra intawon i-gastos. pero og wa'y jamo sa pitaka, ma control ra.

ang problema ni napoles sr. is that she tried to abuse the saying, "diversify your portfolio". ka bu anga pod ning bajeha. diversify ijang multi-million dollar portfolio with fake names diay. LOL. kuliretz. ::)

corrupt pod lageh ning mga politiko sa atua. i know a mayor of a particular town in southern bohol who told me that it is normal kono to use municipal funds for "mayoral purposes". a particular city councilor of a particular large city in bohol said to me that corruption is rather rampant in city politics. tho it is toned down, still happens kono.

pisti!

it might be better not to have a legislative body.  it's supposed to be a body for lawmaking, but we already have too many laws and we fail mostly in their enforcement.  besides, they'd rather investigate and identify projects for funding than make laws.  and the laws they make usually exempt themselves.

they get their massive pay in full whether they're present or not.  imagine the likes of revilla, estrada, lapid and sotto filming movies and still getting their senate salaries and allowances, without deductions for absences.  that's double compensation, but did they ever apply this law to themselves?
