Sharing my view:
The specific weakness of capitalism as it's practiced in the modern U.S. is that the fundamental unit of society is the corporation, which is, if you think about it, absurd. Societies are made of people, which corporations really exist in order to serve. Now, however, business has become the effective god and it is allowed to squash individual people under its feet.
The specific weakness of communism as a theory is that it relies upon the good will of people, which ends up being unrealistic. However, the much larger problem with all the systems which have been called "communist" is that they have all been forced upon unwilling populations and have thus fallen prey to totalitarianism and usually dictatorship. (These two things are intimately related.)
I shall share my views on the strengths later. First, I want to hear your opinions. Your thoughts.
