The California woman who astonished doctors earlier this week by giving birth to octuplets at a suburban Los Angeles hospital already has six other children, CBS News reported on Thursday.

The woman delivered six boys and two girls prematurely by Caesarean section on Monday, surprising doctors who had seen only seven babies in ultrasound images.

Officials at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in the Los Angeles suburb of Bellflower have declined to identify the mother or reveal if she received fertility treatments, which can increase the likelihood of multiple births.

There are no known cases of naturally conceived octuplets. - Reuters

There has been issues raised about this mother having 8 babies at one time. She was accused of being irresponsible for having 8 babies in her womb and not agreeing to having some of the babies aborted to keep the other kids safe. I couldn't believe my ears!

The opposition's argument makes no sense.

Being a mother and perpetuating life is now deemed 'irresponsible'

and Murder/Abortion is now deemed 'responsible'?

The first time I've heardthis news, wala ko katuo kay sa akong nadunggan sa una triplets raman kindaghanan oi, grabe pud nang walo kabuok no. Baboy raman akong nahibaw-annga ingon ana, sa tinuod lang.

It is interesting for me to analyze the society we live in. I mean isn't it amazing that during the times of our grandparents and their grandparents, having over 10 children was a common sight.

My maternal grandfather was the eldest of 12 children; my paternal grandmother was the eldest of 12, my own father was the eldest of 7.

You know, listening to all the commentaries about this mother having now total of 14 children, ma imagine nako na if my family were living here in the US when we were still young, basin pod ma issue kay we were 13 with no clear idea where to get the next food to eat. Thank you, Dong! You are so correct, Dong! God will always provide. Di man jud ta pasagdan if we just follow His Will. I believe it was His will that we would be more than a dozen otherwise He allowed my Mom to have ligation but He did not. It even almost killed my Mom kay he had allergy man diay! So see, we are all meant to be in this world to love and care for each other. I can't imagine not having any one of my younger siblings, Dong!
